Thomas Donald Childers Sr., 88, of Peebles, Ohio, passed 12:58 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe, Ohio. Thomas was born February 3, 1934 in Owsley County, Kentucky, the son of the late Arthur Allen Childers and Lucy Bell (Simmons) Childers. On June 7, 1957, he was united in marriage to Helen Virginia (Violet) Childers, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Joan (William) Johnson of Peebles, Ohio and Phyllis Violet of Chillicothe, Ohio, one son, Kenneth (Juanita) Violet of Tipp City, Ohio, three grandchildren, Rachel (Robert) Harold, Ashley (David) Detty, and Vincent Paul, one great grandchild, Benjamin Detty, several other grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Thomas Childers Jr., four brothers, three sisters and one great granddaughter, Avah Harold. Thomas was a member of the Army serving as a Corporal of the Signal Corp in the Korean Conflict and was a truck driver. He loved gardening and hunting. He was a member of Cornerstone Apostolic in Chillicothe, Ohio. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, Ohio with Pastor John Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon, Ohio with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #142.
