Jim Stout

James (Jim) Edward Stout, 65, of Checotah, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022. He was born on Tuesday, April 30, 1957 to Jerry and Margaret (Bushyhead) Stout in Chicago, Illinois. Jim grew up in Owasso, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the United States Marines and served in Vietnam. After the military, Jim returned to Muskogee to work for Satellite Communications. He also helped his dad start the 150 Boat Sales in Brush Hill, Oklahoma. Jim married Donna Reeve on April 5, 1986 in Muskogee. Jim loved to fish and enjoyed being a rodeo clown. He was one to always make you laugh. Jim never met a stranger. He was always selfless and would help you anyway he could. Jim loved animals. He had an impeccable memory, remembering everything. Jim was a good husband and loved his children. He was the adjutant for American Legion Post 403 in Oktaha. Jim was part of the Honor Guard of American Legion Post 20 in Fort Gibson. He will be missed by all that loved and knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim is lovingly survived by his wife, Donna of the home; daughter, Talisa Reeve and Jamie Byrnes of Venice Beach, California; son, Jesse Stout of Checotah; daughter, Paige Stout of Wichita Falls, Texas; brothers, John Stout and wife Arla of Oktaha and Jack Stout and wife Judi of Muskogee; sisters, Debbie Stout of Muskogee, Susie Engelbretson of Muskogee and Janie Strickland and husband Randy of Muskogee. Aunt and Uncle, Jim and Patty Bushyhead of Catoosa. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and a lifetime of friends. Viewing will be 9:00am to 4:00pm, Tuesday, May 17, 2022 with family greeting friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Garrett Family Funeral Home in Checotah. Services will be 2:00pm, Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Oktaha Gospel Church, with Reverend Ronnie Reeve officiating. Ryan Killingsworth, Billy Tankersly, Casey Stout, Chad Stout, Jack Stout, Jr. and Jon Hammonds will serve as Casket Bearers. Lanny Cartwright will serve as Honorary Casket Bearer.
