Deloris (Bewley) Nixon, age 90, resident of Greentown, Indiana, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022, at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born February 25, 1932, in New Castle, Indiana, a daughter of Harold “Harry” and Mary (Schweikhardt) Bewley. Deloris was a 1949 graduate of New Castle High School. Deloris married her late husband, Walter Elie Nixon on September 3, 1949. She was a homemaker and a hard worker. She loved gardening, quilting, sewing, and enjoyed canning everything. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Left to cherish her loving memory include seven children, Linda Tusing, Mike (Teresa) Nixon, Walter (Margaret) Nixon, Jr., Susan (Joe) Kelley, Randy Nixon, Jeff (Debbie) Nixon, and Jill Mathews; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Naoma Slaven; a brother-in-law, Lewie Nixon; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Elie Nixon July 18, 2007; a son-in-law, Jimmy Mathews; a daughter-in-law, Marty Nixon; one sister, and two brothers. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2022, at Rose City Funeral Home, 2011 East Broad St., New Castle with Pastor Danny Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at Mooreland Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m., until service time at the funeral home. Rose City funeral home directors and staff are honored to serve the Nixon family.
