Cynthia "Cindy" L Oberhaus Obituary

Cindy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was very active in her church community at Our Savior Lutheran Church. She was a member of the choir and also enjoyed playing her oboe at church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Luther Oberhaus; mother, Maxine Henry; and father, Emerson Henry.

Survivors include her children, Geoffrey Oberhaus (Rachel Bradley); Robin Taylor (Jeffrey); grandchildren Libbey and Paige; and siblings Herb Henry (Eva); Diane Nichols (William); Susan Littin (Steven); Thomas Henry (Cynthia).

She was born in Warren, Ohio on Easter Sunday April 17, 1949. She attended schools in Leavittsburg, Ohio and went on to college at Bowling Green State University majoring in sciences and minoring in music. There, she met the love of her life, Luther, who was also in the music program. They were married May 24 th , 1969 and spent over 52 wonderful years together. They made a beautiful life together raising their children in Defiance, Ohio and later moving to Louisville, Kentucky. Cindy worked at the store they owned together, then Community Action in Defiance. After moving to Louisville, Cindy spent several years working for Pomeroy and then retired from Humana in 2019. She was involved many years in community bands playing her oboe. She enjoyed sewing, making clothes for her children when they were young, prom dresses for her daughter, a christening gown for her grandchildren, and most recently, many face masks for family and friends. Cindy loved to travel with her husband, Luther, and they had many wonderful trips to various countries, often sharing their travels with good friends or family as well.

Cindy and Luther enjoyed traveling to many of their grandchildren’s activities including visits to camps, marching band shows, dance competitions and recitals. Cindy was a devout Christian and is happy to be reunited with her husband in Heaven. The family is very thankful for all of the love and support she has received from her church and friends during her battle with lung cancer. The family would like to especially thank the entire dedicated and caring staff of Homewatch Caregivers of Louisville for the wonderful care they gave her, especially these past few months.
