<p>Lawrence William Harris</p><p>"Bill"</p><p>1933-2022</p><p><br></p><p>It is with sadness that we inform you of the passing of Lawrence William (Bill) Harris on Sunday, May 15 at the age 88 years at the A.M. Guy Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 3, 1933 in Buchans, NL. </p><p><br></p><p>Predeceased by his wife Marcella (St. George), Son Wade, Parents Chesley and Hilda Katherine (Furlong), siblings Gordon (Nellie), Bana, Jim, Genevieve (Clarence), Jackie, Brian, Robert (Daphne), Jessie (Toots). </p><p><br></p><p>Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his children William (Carol) Port Blandford, Gerald (Agnes) Buchans, David (Paulette) Buchans, Christine (Dave Jones) St. John’s, Exie (Ged Dalton) St. John’s. Siblings Beaton (Annie) Port Blandford, Griffin (Diane) Buchans, Harold (Linda) Moncton, Lloyd (Linda) Buchans, Dawn (Bill Brown) Buchans and Maxwell (Denise) Fort MacMurray. </p><p><br></p><p>In - Laws: Jim Yetman Buchans, Anne (Jim) Yarmouth, Marilyn (Brian) Buchans</p><p><br></p><p>Grand Children: Christopher (Angie), Justin (Roxanne), Allen (Jody), Marilyn (Jonathan), Stephanie (William), Catherine (Jeffrey) Tyler (Lindsay) and Zachary.</p><p>Great Grandchildren: Cole, Ben, Jake, Abby, Billie, Breanna, Jordan, Alex, Lily, Bryce, Wyatt, Madison and Liam to whom he was known as Pop Pop.</p><p><br></p><p>Also leaving to mourn a large circle of family (nieces and nephews) and friends.</p><p><br></p><p>Bill played defense for the Buchans Miners Hockey Team. He was part of two Herder Memorial Trophies winning teams (1954 &amp; 1963). He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Each season would bring a new game to hunt or berry to pick. He had many hunting camps he built himself that he would go to depending on the season. He was a man among men and loved by his family and the people of the community he called home. Dad gave so much to so many in his life and never once expected anything in return. He worked with ASARCO for 40+ years in the Machine Shop. He volunteered with the Search and Rescue and the Fire Department and is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. </p><p><br></p><p>Special thanks to the A.M Guy Memorial Hospital Staff for looking after and caring for Dad for the last two years. Dad was a great resident at the home and was loved and respected by all who worked with him and he in return loved and respected them. </p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Buchans United Church or the Heart and Stroke.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ryan Peddle of Central Funeral Homes.</p>
