Vernon L. Stevens Obituary

Vernon Stevens, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who never met a stranger, age 80 of Blanket, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022. His family will have a memorial service at 12 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2022 at their residence in Breckenridge. Vernon L. Stevens was born May 11, 1942 in Jacksboro, Texas to William Thomas Stevens and Mary Elizabeth King Stevens. He enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably until his discharge. On August 17, 1964, he married Nina Marie Fowler in McCamey, Texas. Vernon worked in the oil field where his job moved him around from Hobbs, New Mexico to McCamey, Jacksboro and Graham. He also worked overseas in Malta, Africa and Venezuela. In his spare time, Vernon enjoyed trading horses, horseback riding and spending time with his kids. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ernest Stevens; and one sister, Addie Walton. Vernon is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nina Stevens of Blanket; three daughters, Tammy Moore and husband Ray (Moe) of Graham, Mary Stevens of Austin, Stephanie Dickson and husband Brent of Graham; one brother, Richard Stevens of Seymour; five grandchildren, Tray Moore, Bobby Moore, Brittani Dickson, Amanda Pack and husband Jerry, Kayla Stevens; nine great grandchildren.
