Joseph Parrish, age 101 of Webster City, IA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 14, 2022. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Church of Christ in Webster City. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Foster Funeral Home and Cremation Center is entrusted with caring for Joe and his family.<br> Joseph Lyman Parrish was born on May 1, 1921, in Hamilton County, to parents Lyman and Flora (Segar) Parrish. He attended country school as a child and then attended Woolstock High where he graduated from with the Class of 1940.<br> On April 13, 1940, Joe was united in marriage to Helen Maxine Maxon. This union was blessed with a son, Joseph, Jr. Together, he and Helen made their home in Webster City. He worked as a Bank Examiner for the State of Iowa until retiring in 1985.<br> In 1944, Joe enlisted into the United States Navy, serving his country until being honorably discharged in 1946. Upon his return home, Joe furthered his education. He graduated from Webster City Junior College in 1949, from the University of Iowa in 1950, and finally, The Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in 1964.<br> Joe was involved in his community. He served as Secretary for the Diamond K Kiwanis, was a member of the American Legion as well as the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs, and served as an Elder of the Church of Christ, amongst many other things. He enjoyed gardening and reading in his spare time. While Joe deeply enjoyed doing these things over the years, nothing brought him greater joy than being with his family. He and Helen were both huge supporters of their son as he grew up and then the two grandchildren once they came along. They were always so good about being there to watch whether it be for sporting events or a school play. Family time meant the most to them, for sure. Holidays were always special when they gathered. Joe will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Rest assured, he has entered Heaven where he will live eternally in God’s loving arms, alongside his wife Helen, and son Joseph, Jr.<br> Joe is survived by his grandchildren, Matthew (Tina) Parrish of Vashon, WA, and Julie Friesth of Fort Dodge; daughter-in-law Lisa Parrish of AZ; great-grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jacob, and Joshua Parrish, Caitlynn, Ashley, and Emily Friesth; many other extended family members and friends.<br> In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 2016; son, Joe Parrish, Jr.; and siblings: Richard, Charles, Mary, Dwight, Lee, and Lucille.

Joseph Lyman Parrish was born on May 1, 1921, in Hamilton County, to parents Lyman and Flora (Segar) Parrish. He attended country school as a child and then attended Woolstock High where he graduated from with the Class of 1940.
On April 13, 1940, Joe was united in marriage to Helen Maxine Maxon. This union was blessed with a son, Joseph, Jr. Together, he and Helen made their home in Webster City. He worked as a Bank Examiner for the State of Iowa until retiring in 1985.
