Frances Petersen Obituary

Frances Petersen passed away on Thursday May 12, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Home in Grand Island, NE. Services will be held Monday May 23, 2022, with viewing at 10 AM followed by a service at Banks and Beal’s Funeral Home in Dallas City, IL and a grave side service to at Harris Cemetery. In Liew of flowers a memorial may be sent to the Banks and Beal’s Funeral Home, Box 70, Dallas City, Illinois 62330. Frances was born in Brookfield, MO on December 25, 1924, to George and Dulcie Bunch. She married Raleigh Stein, but later were divorced. She went to work straight out of high school at Schaffer Pen Company in Fort Madison, IA and later at the Iowa Ordnance Plant in Burlington, IA for 25 years. She was then married to John Petersen until his passing in May 2013. Frances loved cooking, sewing, baking cakes, and gardening. She was incredibly involved in her churches and women’s groups. Frances attended First Christian Church in Dallas City, IL and after moving she attended First Baptist Church in Chapman, NE. But most of all she loved living being with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Four daughters survive her, Lana (Roger) Van Hying of Las Vegas, NV, Jana Cunningham of Glendale, AZ, Becky (Mike) Harmon of China Grove, NC, and Lori (Mike) Kraft of Doniphan, NE; stepdaughter, Dixie Stein of California; sisters: Norma Brandon and Kay Sherwood both of Springfield, IL. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, one infant daughter, two stepchildren, one great granddaughter, one brother and three sisters.
