Phyllis J. “Butchie” Carr, 90, of Ottumwa, died at 3:01 p.m. May 13, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa. She was born June 3, 1931 in Ottumwa to Lloyd and Grace McDowell Crane. She married Wayne R. “Popeye” Carr September 2, 1949 and he preceded her in death December 22, 2013. A 1949 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Phyllis helped operate Wormhoudt Lumber along with her husband, Popeye until its closing in 2013. She had been a member of the Ottumwa Church of the Brethren and had volunteered many years at the F.W. Memorial Immunization Clinic in Ottumwa. Surviving are her children, Danny (Barbara) Carr of Shawnee, KS, Paul Carr and Terri Carr both of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren, Stephen (Lisa) Carr, Sarah (Pat) Rohrer, Rebecca (John) Allison and Laura Carr; 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler Allison, Emma Rohrer, Connor Rohrer, Marshall Carr and Declan Saner; siblings, Janet Hall and Michael Crane. She was preceded in death by three sisters, June Ware, Margie Carr and Barbara Mundell; half-brothers, Ed Crane and Vernon Crane. Her body has been cremated. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 20th, at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Paris officiating. The family will be present one hour prior to the service to greet friends. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.
