Graveside services for Jean Smith 80, of Murchison have been scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Wednesday May 18, 2022 at Red Hill Cemetery with Rev. Vicki Wood officiating, under the direction of Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday evening from 5-7p.m. Mrs. Smith passed away Saturday morning at her home in Murchison surrounded by her family. She was born May 1, 1942 in Crown Point, Indiana to the late John and Sara Desotell Nelson. She was a resident of Murchison for 42 years and loved her community and supported it by participating in community events and supporting many different causes. She loved to quilt and crochet and for many years was a distributor for Princess House a crystal dinnerware company. She loved to go bowling and was always supporting her children and great grandchildren at their many sporting events. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Sara Nelson, and daughter; Theresa Yunk. Survivors include her husband of 52 years Ray Smith of Murchison, son; Gary Lee Hopkins of Ft. Worth, daughters; Cindy Demree of Michigan, Jennifer Bench and husband Robert of Edom, 15 great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren, sister; Mary Brown of Crown Point, Indiana and numerous nieces and nephews.
