Obituary

Walter Paull, 81, passed away on May 12, 2022.  He was born March 6, 1941, in Conneaut to the late Charles and June Paull.  Walter was a 1959 graduate of Conneaut High School and received his B.A. from Ohio University in 1963.  After graduation from college, Walter served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lt. until 1966.  He then attended Akron Law School and received his J.D. and was admitted to the Bar in 1969.

Walter began his career as an Estate Tax Attorney with the IRS.  He then went into banking as a trust officer for Firestone Bank and Bank One. He was later hired by Central Trust as the head of the trust department retiring from Chase Bank as the head of their trust department in 1996.

After retirement, Walter and his wife Nancy enjoyed traveling to the Florida Keys and being “snowbirds”.  The trip always started out with Walter singing “We’ve Got To Get Outta This Place”.  He also loved the many dear friends they met while in Florida.

Walter always loved a great party.  Clambakes became a fun gathering of friends with “Mr. Ted the Clam Guy!”.  Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve were also celebrated with friends.

He was a Die-Hard Notre Dame and Ohio State Fan but always cheered on The Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers.  Walter enjoyed both golf and bowling leagues with his buddies from the bank but especially enjoyed golfing with his son.  Walter also cherished the girls in his life, but his Jules was his dearest.  He had a huge soft heart for his family which included many stray cats and his beloved Irish Setter, Brandy.  When Walter chilled with his music it was Bob Dylan.

Besides his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Kay Hodgson.  He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Nancy; son, Charles; daughter, Julia; sister Sara (Eric) Dalrymple; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Walter was a simple, complicated, kind, gentle, intelligent, and loving man who will always be dearly missed by his family and his many friends.

The family would like to send their love to Jim and Alice for always being there through the years as well as a special thanks to Walter’s “family” at the Sand Bar.
