In depths of great sorrow, we announce the passing of Seberena D. Drakeford. We extend our condolences to the family during this time. On April 20, 1962 Hugh and Mae Ella Dixon welcomed a beautiful daughter into their family. From humble beginnings, eberena was instilled with the spiritual commandments of God at New Hope United Methodist Church at a young age. God saw fit to pluck one of his precious roses from the garden on May 15, 2022 and now upon Jesus’ bosom shall she rest. Seberena received her education in the Chesterfield County public schools. Upon graduation she continued her studies at South Carolina State University graduating in 1985. She worked with various companies throughout the years. Because she was an outgoing person, she relocated to Columbia, SC and also to Lawrenceville, GA. Making last connections in both location in addition to her hometown of McBee, Seberena shared paths with many individual who enriched her life. Seberena’s loving spirit for others, as well as her special interest in exhibiting her many talents, was evident when she became an entrepreneur. After opening up a boutique for a period of time, she also enjoyed the blissful excitement of event planning, decorating and also coordinating special events. The ocean always brought Seberena peace and solace. The serene sounds of the waves and the calmness of God’s spectacular grace, reminded her of life’s blessings. It also gave her special time with her family and friends. The delicious aroma of Seberena cooking her master dishes of broccoli casserole and macaroni and cheese was a traditional gathering time for her family. She too, made a banana pudding that was sure to leave your sweet tooth satisfied.The sweetness of indulging in her favorite dessert chocolate cake, always brought a smile upon Sebrerena’s face. However, her love for her grandbabies were the sweetest treats of her heart. Seberena is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Mae Ella Dixon; siblings, Rickey Dixon, Ruben Dixon, Randolph Dixon and Ella L. Dell.Cherishing her lasting loving memories are her husband, Harrison Jerome Drakeford; Four children, Hughie (Ashley) Dixon, Brandon (Kris) Grant, Malcolm Bennett and Jerome Drakeford; Three siblings, Nallie Aldrich, Hewitt Dixon and Shirley Hannah; Eight grandchildren, Darielle, Hughston, Ashlynn, Gino, Avie, Giana, Grayce & Roman. ; two special nieces, Sharon Jordan and Jackie Jackson; a host of other nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
