Carroll Lee Miller was born on July 10, 1929, the son of Harry and Mamie (Cole) Miller of Bertha Minnesota. He attended country school district 36 until the 8 th grade, then finished high school in Staples, graduating in 1947. In January 1951 Carroll started working with the Northern Pacific Railroad as a clerk and stayed with the company until 1974. In 1979 he started driving bus for the Staples School district and became the transportation supervisor until his retirement. Carroll married Miss Donna Mae Smith in Little Falls Minnesota, on June 23, 1951. Their union was blessed with nine children.

When Carroll was not working, he valued his time at home with his family. His pride was raising his kids and then getting to spend time with his grandchildren. He coached youth baseball and softball as well as umped for years. The crack of the bat put a twinkle in his eye. Carroll was always very active and like to be busy. He offered a helping hand to others, along with that came his quick wit and sense of humor. Carroll loved to play any card game, cribbage, and played horseshoes and bowled until he was 90! He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying his fall deer hunting season.

Carroll passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the Lakewood Care Center in Staples. He was 92 years young. He is survived by his children, Sherry (Greg) Frisk of Motley, Robert (Diana)
