Leon Rivers, Jr. the son of Leon Rivers, Sr. and Annie Virginia Rivers was born on July 16, 1976 in Hampton , SC. He departed this life on May 13, 2022 at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC. At the age of 12, Leon joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Hampton, SC, where he served on the Usher Board. He was a graduate of WHHS, Hampton, South Carolina and furthered his education at Livingstone College. While in high school, Leon was a gifted athlete, where he excelled in football, track and weightlifting.  His other accomplishments include, all region in weightlifting, track and a three year letterman in football. Leon would later earn a scholarship at Livingstone College in Salibury, NC where he played offensive guard and participated on the track team. In 1997, Leon helped the team win their first CIAA Football Championship in school’s history. In 2018,  he and his teammates were inducted into the Livingstone College Football Hall of Fame. Leon was gainfully employed at Team Chevrolet, and later as    a store manager for Walgreens  and CVS  Pharmacies in Salisbury, NC. He was first married to Tina Thompson and later to Mrs. Fredricka Haynes. Leon was a devoted husband, son, father  and friend. He leaves to cherish fond memories: wife, Fredricka Haynes-Rivers; his beautiful children, Jordan Rivers, Jaydon Rivers,  and Jada Rivers; his parents; his sisterly and brotherly bond with Sophia Grant and Kenny Giles; special niece, Leah Rekell Rivers,  of Hampton, SC; two uncles, Sam Rivers (Elaine) and Johnny R. Hayes, both of Varnville, SC; grand uncle, Norris Brown,  of Columbia, SC; aunts, Margaret Collins, Essie Ruth, Maggie Kelly, Mary Grant,  Diane O’Banner, Lizzie White and Elaine Rivers; special cousins, Kirby Collins, of Greenville SC, Arthur O’Banner, Fredrick O’Banner, Dessie White Jr. of FL, Thomas Crosson Jr, of Hampton, SC and Chris Hayes, of Varnville, SC; along with special and devoted friends, Brian Housey, Bryson Housey, Daniel Housey Jr., Malcolm Miller and Treyvon Miller, Amieer Green and Reggie Johnson, both of Charlotte NC, Tony Crawford, of  Salisbury, NC, Leonard Brooker, Dion Moore and Theodore Jennings, of Hampton, SC; along with a host of other relatives and caring friends.
