Diane Banister

Diane Banister, age 65, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at her home in Cadiz. Born January 5, 1957, in Cadiz, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late George W. Knight and Ernestine Wallace Knight. She had previously worked in the Family Support Division for the State of Kentucky, Trigg County Clerks Office, and was also a homemaker. She attended Golden Pond Elementary School and was a 1975 graduate of Trigg County High School. Diane enjoyed fishing, gardening, baking, and going to the beach. She especially loved being around her family and friends. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Cadiz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Knight and sister, Sue Spurlin. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, David Banister of Cadiz; daughter, Carrie Banister of Cadiz; son, Dr. Jason (Dr. Karen) Banister of Symsonia, Ky.; three grandchildren, Sarah (Brett) Banister Ezell, David (Song Kim) W. Banister, Samuel Banister; six brothers, "J.W." (Ann) Knight of Hopewell, Va., "Tom" Knight of Dover, Tenn., Charles (Susie) Knight of Gilbertsville, Ky., Harold (Judy) Knight of Cadiz, Nicky (Janette) McElwain of Palestine, Texas, and Butch McElwain of Cadiz; sister, JoAnn (Terry) Shoemaker of Murray, Ky.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends she loved dearly. Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends after 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Funeral service will be at Goodwin Funeral Home, at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 19, 2022. Burial will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery in Cadiz.
