Doris A. Guffey, 75, of 633 Market St., Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 4:45 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born December 5, 1946, in Lewisburg, a daughter of the late William and Thelma (Dunkle) Aikey.  On May 6, 1966, in Mifflinburg, she married George M. Guffey, who survives.

Doris was a 1964 graduate of Lewisburg High School.

She was first employed as a secretary at Bussert’s Supply in Lewisburg and is most remembered as the Borough of Mifflinburg secretary for many, many years.

Doris enjoyed crocheting blankets, camping, and playing poker and pinochle with her friends over the years.  In her early years, she was a member of the Mifflinburg Hose Company’s Ladies Auxiliary.  She was a proud grandmother and enjoyed spending time on the porch with neighbors.    

Surviving in addition to her husband of 56 years, are one daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Chris Bailey of Lewisburg; and one granddaughter, Emma; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Donna and Dennis Goss and of Middleburg, and Sharron Aikey of Mifflinburg; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Diane Aikey of Florida, and John and Marsha Aikey of Mifflinburg.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
