Edwin "Scotty" Scott Obituary

Edwin “Scotty” Scott, 89, of Hamburg, died Friday, May 13, 2022, at his son's residence in Hamburg. Mr. Scott was a native of Georgetown, Louisiana, a resident of Trout, Louisiana for most of his life, and a resident of Hamburg for the past six years. He attended Georgetown High School and was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Scott was a Master Mason and a member of the Carrietta Lodge #312 in Trout, Louisiana. After five years of working as a boilermaker, he founded the Trout Creek Kennel, where he started the American Hairless Terrier dog breed. He held the record, listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, for having the rarest dog breed in the world. Mr. Scott enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Willie Jean Edwards Scott; his parents, Lonnie Lee and Iclona Whitley Scott and seven brothers, Lonnie Lee Scott, Robert Roy “Robin” Scott, James Allen Scott, Edgar Lavelle “Doc” Scott, Richard William Scott, Howard Louis Scott and Lester Leon “Buddy” Scott.

He is survived by two sons, John Lester Scott and wife, Julie, of Dahlonega, Georgia, and Jeffery Adam Scott and wife, Connie, of Hamburg; two step-daughters, Stacy Nikki Hutto of West Monroe, Louisiana, and Aimee Pritchard of Jena, Louisiana; a brother, Ivy Scott; five sisters, Melba Estelle Lawson, Helen Marie McCartney, Elaine Iclona McCartney, Elsie May Cross, and Laverne Maxine McCartney; five grandchildren, Joseph Scott, Jared Scott, Jonah Scott, Darbi Keene, and Hunter Harris; four step-grandchildren, Tiffany Humphries, Caleb Frost, Blaze Hutto, and Audrey Pritchard; five great-grandchildren, Ledger, Mack, Inara, Jonathan, and Jackson; two step-great-grandchildren, Cayden and Kaley.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
