Jeannette Werts Holmes

Edgefield, SC:  Jeannette Werts (Jet) Holmes of 22 Dorn Road,  the widow of Tobie (TB) Holmes, passed away on Friday at Edgefield County HealthCare.

She was born in Saluda, SC, June 10, 1935, daughter of the late Corine Dean Culbreath and the late Alvin Werts. She received her education in the public schools of Saluda and Edgefield County, South Carolina.

She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was faithful serving as Mother of the Church and a member of the Senior Choir. She was also a member of the Woman's Home Aide Society.  She was a very good cook she cooked at various restaurants during her working life.

Jeannette was first married to Andrew Williams who preceded her in death and later in life she married Tobie (TB) Holmes who also preceded her in death.

In addition to her parents and stepfather, Eddie Culbreath, Sr. and spouses; she was also preceded in death by her children, Rufus Williams and Bessie J. Harrison; step-children, William Holmes, Robert Lee Holmes and Alberta H. Partlow; siblings, William Werts, John H. Culbreath, Eddie Culbreath, Jr., Johnny K. Culbreath, David Culbreath, Samuel Culbreath, Jerry Lee Culbreath, Curtis Culbreath and Charity C. Suber.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories: sons, Eugene Williams, McCormick, SC Otis Williams, Augusta, GA Terry Holmes (Shereletha) Greenwood, SC and Anthony Holmes of the home; daughters, Janice (Jerry) Harris, Augusta, GA, and Angela H. (Troy)  Donato, Slidell, LA; step-daughters, Lillie Mae (Robert Belcher, Willie Bell Rappley and Dorothy Holmes all of Greenwood, SC and Barbara Hall, Columbia, SC; forty-one grandchildren, and a number of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; She also leaves cherish memories to her brothers, Bennie (Leona) Culbreath, Edgefield, SC, Moses (Janet) Culbreath, Virginia Beach, VA, Joseph Culbreath, Aiken, SC and Michael Culbreath, Troy, SC; sister, Ida C. Bryant, Edgefield, SC; son-in-law, Cleveland Harrison, Columbia, SC; daughter-in-law, Jennie Holmes, Greenwood, SC; sisters-in-law, Doris Culbreath, Annetta Culbreath, Annie Rose Culbreath and Olethia Culbreath; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

A Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Antioch Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Carmilla C. Simpkins, Interim Pastor - Eulogist and Reverend Louis Jackson, presiding with others assisting. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.

Family viewing will be 10-11 a.m. Friday and public viewing will begin at 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family is at the home.
