James "Jimmie" Walker Stacy Obituary

James Walker Stacy, age 84, of Grassy Creek, KY departed this life for his heavenly home on May 13,2022, surrounded by his family.

Jimmie was born on July 22, 1937 to Lula Goodpaster Stacy and Russell Stacy, at Haney Branch, KY.

In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Janice Stacy; grandson, Trevor Lawson; great-granddaughter, Hadley Johnson; two sisters, Mary T. Helton and Wonnie Stacy; one brother, Vernon Stacy; three brothers-in-law, Guy Helton, Delbert Deborde, and James Deborde; two sisters-in-law, Lois Stacy and Marie Stacy; and a special friend, Bobbie Jo Peyton.

Jimmie was a member of Grassy Lick Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and sang in the choir for many years.

He was a tobacco farmer and dedicated his life to caring for those he held dear. He loved the Lord, strong coffee, biscuits and gravy, Westerns, his grandbabies, good horses and good company. He was the happiest when he was making jokes or telling stories. His kids and grandkids will tell you he was the wisest man we ever knew. He would not have been considered wealthy by worldly standards, but he built his fortune of the things that money could never buy. He built a legacy of unconditional love, friendship, and generosity. To know him was to love and respect him. He led by example, and no one was ever turned away from his door or his table.

Jimmie is survived by three daughters, Debbie and Barry Smith of Northwood, Ohio; Charlotte and James Keeton of Mt Sterling, KY; Loretta and Jack Hammons of Elkfork, KY; one son Ricky Stacy, of Grassy Creek, Ky; five Granddaughters, Samantha and Mark Biddlecom of Seattle, Washington; Randa Henderson of Grassy Creek, KY; Kim and Tyler Kennedy of Clay City, KY; Leah and Channing Kinner of West Liberty, KY; Katie and Jason Johnson of Elkfork, KY; one grandson, Tom and Alex Smith of Northwood, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren, Landon Bailey, Elizabelle Bailey, Amelia Biddlecom, Natalie Biddlecom, Walker Sumner, Wyatt Kennedy, Bennett Kinner, Ezra Johnson, and Eliza Johnson; three brothers, Bill and Glenna Stacy of Mentor, Ohio; Wayne and Dolores Stacy of Madisonville, Tennessee; Robert Stacy of Grassy Creek, KY; one sister, Emma and Willie Watson of Waterloo, Indiana; Brother-in-laws Donnie and Lenora Deborde of West Liberty, KY; David Deborde of Ohio; Sister-in-laws Viola Deborde, and Tammy Deborde, both of Dayton, Ohio; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
