Emil P. Klimah, age 97, World War II U.S. Army veteran, of Sunrise Assisted Living in Naperville, IL, formerly of Chicago, and a 30-year resident of Glen Ellyn, IL, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022. He was born November 7, 1924, in Chicago. Beloved husband of 67 years to the late Arlene Esther Klimah (nee Holtzman), who preceded him in death on July 9, 2015, loving father of Arlene (late Carmen) Pappalardo, Peter (late Christine) Klimah and William (Nancy) Klimah, adored grandfather of Alan Pappalardo, Andrea Pappalardo, Peter C. (Lisa) Klimah, Douglas (Meghan) Klimah, Steven Klimah, William E. Klimah, and Kevin Klimah, cherished great-grandfather of Carmen “Carmushka” Cardenas, Meara Klimah, Zack “Attack” Klimah, Emry Klimah and Layla Klimah, devoted son of the late Peter and Emily (nee Syperek) Klimah, dear brother of Esther (Art) Hartwig and the late Edward (the late Bernice) Klimah, fond uncle, great-uncle and friend of many. Emil was born in Chicago and was a graduate of Kelly High School (Class of 1942). He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the U.S. Army Regimental Band, playing the Clarinet. Emil worked as a real estate broker with his brother, Edward, serving as president of the local Real Estate Brokers Association. Also, he owned and operated a paint store for many years. Emil was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Lombard, IL. He was a 7th degree black belt in karate, having his own dojo, assisting in the training of police officers and many others. Emil was loved by many and will be forever missed. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. A celebration of Emil’s life will be held Friday, May 20, 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Private Entombment: Bethania Cemetery, Justice, IL.
