To Mother

Sleep on our beloved. We will think of you always. You're departing from us is that of someone whose work is done. Someone whose troubles now are past. You gladly entered through that friendly door to be "Home at Last". Remembering you always, Larry, Lenora, and Bobbie.

Geneva Owens Johnson was born on Saturday, March 29th, 1930, in HIlls Prairie, Texas, Bastrop County, to the late Benny Owens and Lenora Craney Owens. On Friday, May 13th, 2022; our Heavenly Father, called Geneva home to rest. In her youthful years, Geneva, and her foster parents; Sam Abrams and Dora Parker moved to Buda, Texas where she called home up until her passing.

Geneva united in marriage to Starlin A. Johnson, Sr. To this union seven children were born Starlin A. Jr, Larry, Bennie Jean, Linda, Lenora, Bobbie, and Roger. She attended Hills Prairie and Buda Public schools. At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined the Center Union Missionary Baptist Church, Buda, Texas under the leadership of the late Reverent O.B. Clayborne. She served as President of the Senior Mission, Youth Sunday School Teacher, Youth Choir Director, member of the church choir, represented the church at numerous meetings held by the St. John District Association, maintained the upkeep of the church lawn, and loved leading prayers in church meetings.

Geneva enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, often spending summers out of town caring for a granddaughter and raising others in her home. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, playing softball, throwing neighborhood BBQs, jig-saw puzzles, playing dominoes, and having long telephone conversations.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Starlin A. Johnson Jr., and Roger Johnson, two daughters, Bennie Jean Alexander, and Linda Brown; two brothers, Melvin Owens, and Edward Owens; three sisters, Lucille McBride, Bobbie Hill, and Essie Mae Sorrells.

She leaves behind to express grief of her homegoing; one son, Larry Johnson, two daughters, Lenora Johnson Morris (John) and Bobbie Johnson Smith (Brad); ten grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
