Suzanne Emrich Obituary

Suzanne Davidson Emrich, passed away May 12, 2022, in Indianapolis. She was born August 1, 1942, in Niagara Falls, New York to Hilda and James Davidson. Suzanne graduated from Massena Central High School in 1960 and earned an education degree from Bucknell University in 1964. After completing a master’s degree at Colgate University, she began a long career in teaching and educational publishing. She taught at schools in New York and Virginia before moving to Chicago to work as a textbook writer and editor. Later in her career, after time spent at home with her two kids, she became a writing instructor at IUPUI, and then taught middle school English & Social Studies at the Hebrew Academy of Indianapolis for many years. Always a spirited advocate for civil rights and women’s rights, she had a big laugh and big heart. She enjoyed reading, watching sports, and listening to music, everything from Elvis to Tupac to Ed Sheeran. Most of all, she cherished time spent with family and friends. Suzanne is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, William M Emrich; daughter, Cathy; son William D; grandchildren, Lucy, and Char; brother, James (Judi) Davidson; and sister, Jane Brilbeck. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.indianafuneralcare.com.
