Sandra D. McFadden "Cookie" Obituary

Sandra Denise McFadden affectionately known to everyone as "Cookie" was born on June 2, 1971 in Florence, South Carolina to Evangelist Annie McFadden-Joyner and Charles Durant. At the early age of just one month old, Cookie along with her mother and sister Wanda moved to Paterson, New Jersey. Cookie received her education through the Paterson public school system. She attended Public School #6 and Eastside High School. Cookie was employed at Wendy's for the past 26 years. She loved her job and was loved by her co-workers. Cookie gave birth to her first child Alasja McFadden in 1996. In 2009, she gave birth to her second child, a son, Ayden Gilyard. Cookie was raised in the church all her life. Second United Holiness Church was where she sang on the choir as a child. She was a member of the Green Choir, a quartet which also included Wanda, Shanta and her late cousin Lance Howard. Cookie loved to have a good time. She enjoyed her family and loved dancing to club and house music. She was the life of the party If she wasn't playing cards, you could find her on the dance floor enjoying life. Her imprint of who she was will never leave our memories. She was loved by everyone, her sweet charm and smile brightened rooms and hearts. Sandra Denise McFadden "Cookie" departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. She leaves to cherish precious memories, two children; Alasja Fadden and Ayden Gilyard, two granddaughters; London and Logan, her parents; Evangelist Annie McFadden-Joyner and Clarence Joyner and her father Charles Durant, her godmother; Rev. Laura Cotten and godfather, Deffrey Cotton, seven sisters; Wanda (Derrick) McDowell, Regina McFadden, Shamekia McFadden, Lattoria (Clyde) Fleming, Clarice (Edward) Woods, Trenace (James) Ruffin, Kimberly Hawkins and her godsister Shanta (Samuel) Campbell, four brothers; Qeishun McFadden, Jarian Durant, Charles (Latoya) Durant, Jr. and Clarence Cole, three nieces; Lyanna, MaKayla and Ariana, four nephews; Legend, Jace, Yaz'mier and Hezekiah, and 25 other nieces and nephews, her devoted friend and companion; Daniel Gilyard, her sister in love; Sasha Barreto, her best friend; Jalonda Harris, her son in love; Jerome, one great aunt; Margaret Johnson, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We will always remember that special smile, that caring heart, and her warm embrace. She will forever remain in our hearts.
