William Nelson Quincy Obituary

William Nelson Quincy Sr., 74, of Perry passed away Thursday night May 12, 2022 at his home. He was born August 22, 1947 in Pittsfield the son of the late William S. and Frances A. Bushnell Quincy. He married Debra Lynn Logsdon June 6, 1970 in Perry and she preceded him in death November 4, 2016. William was a graduate of Perry High School and was a US Navy Veteran, serving aboard the USS Oriskany, He was awarded the Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. He worked as a Technision for GTE in Florida and then in Illinois. He retired as a Corrections Officer at the Mt. Sterling Corrections Center after 20 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ LDS. He enjoyed Watching Cubs Baseball, hunting for mushrooms, gardening, reading and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his children, Stephanie (James) Embree of Perry, William Quincy Jr. of Pittsfield, Cindy (Shawn) Huling of Mt. Sterling, Wilbur Quincy of Pittsfield, Lena Bay of Meredosia, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and his sister Joyce Leamons of Bluffs. A public graveside service will be held at 2 pm Tuesday May 17, 2022 at the Wilson Cemetery in Perry, where military honors will be conducted. Memorial contributions can be made to the Church of Jesus Christ LDS. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.airsman-hires.
