A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 20, at 11:00 AM to honor the memory of Jody Crist who passed away on the morning of Monday, May 10, 2022.  The service will be held at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel at 11200 Metcalf Avenue.

Jody was born Jody Lynn Puffer on July 17, 1954, in Detroit Michigan.  Her parents were Mary Ellen and Herbert John Puffer, and she was the second eldest of four siblings: Lori, Keith, and Jennell.  Jody grew up in Garden City, Michigan, where she attended school and eventually got a job at a local McDonald’s.  It was here that she met Jim Crist, to whom she would be married for 34 years.  She and Jim moved to Philadelphia and then onto Chicago where their son, Matthew, was born on October 31, 1986.  The young family settled in the Kansas City area shortly thereafter. 

Jody was a social butterfly.  She enjoyed getting lunch with her friends and shopping with her siblings when they would come to visit her in Kansas.  She was an avid reader of westerns and adventure novels and received an associate’s degree from Johnson County Community College.  Above all, she cherished her family and her faith in God.  She was close to her son, Matthew, and his wife, Jillian.  Jody’s granddaughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Crist, was born February 7, 2019.  Jody was also an active member of Southwoods Christian Church in Stilwell, Kansas.  She read her Bible every day and was always willing to share her testimony with those around her.  She passed away on May 10, 2022, at the age of 67.  She will be dearly missed.
