Thomas Dudley Hixson, age 83, passed away on May 10, 2022 in Alexandria, Louisiana. he was born on July 8, 1938 in Atlanta, Georgia to Evelyn Lenoir Jones and Murril Thomas Hixson.

Dudley graduated from Eau Claire High School in Columbia, South Carolina and received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Carolina. He later received his license as a Professional Engineer. He served in the United States Air Forces on active duty in Spain when his National Guard was activated in 1961, during the Berlin Crises. He returned home as an Officer in the United Stares Air Force Reserves and began a career with the United States Forest Service. He later joined a private Consulting Engineering firm in Alexandria, Louisiana in 1973 and became a principal owner and Vice President of Meyer, Meyer, LaCroix & Hixson, Inc., where he actively worked for 30 years.

Dudley retired from the consulting firm and became the Project Engineer for the new Alexandria International Airport Terminal building which was constructed in 2006, after which he served as the Project Coordinator for the Noise Abatement project at Alexandria International Airport for URS Corporation and the England Air Park Authority.

Dudley and his cherished and beloved wife, Reba, were married in 1975. He served on the Vestry of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church; was Layreader and Eucharistic Minister, and former member of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission. He was a Life Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Diplomate; Academy of Environmental Engineers; Louisiana Engineering Foundation Board, President of the Louisiana Engineering Society, President of the National Society for Professional Engineers, and Life member of the National Rifle Association.

Dudley was a member, and held offices, in the Alexandria-Pineville Chamber of Commerce as President, Chairman, Military Affairs Director, Legislative Committee Chairman and Executive Committee member for Cenlabration. He was past President and member of the Board of Directors of the Downtown Lions Club and was former Chairman of the City of Alexandria Board of Adjustments and Appeals. He additionally served on the Community Mental Health Service Board.

He enjoyed hunting, including two African Safaries, woodworking, golf, fishing, photography, watching football and spending time with his family. He was recognized for his dedication to his profession and was elected to serve as President of the National Society of Professional Engineers, receiving numerous achievement awards for his active participation for over 40 years. He was a private pilot and flew numerous aircraft over 35 years, including his favorite, the North American P-51 Mustang.

Dudley was preceded in death by his parents, Murril Thomas and Evelyn Lenoir Hixson; his sister, Evelyn Patricia Hixson Hollyfield; his step-daughter, Jeanette Renne Clingaman Thompson; and his daughter, Sharon Michelle Hixson Hewitt.

Dudley is survived by his beloved wife, Reba Jo Wells Clingaman Hixson; former wife, Gail Ellette Donovan Hixson Dieth; brother, Henry Lee Hixson (Sharon) of Little Mountain, South Carolina; son, Michael Donovan Hixson; his grandchildren, Addison C. 'Trey" Hewitt, III (Melissa Chu), Destiny Lynne Kasubaski, Karma Michelle Kasubaski, Hannah Leigh Hixson Carls (Jordan), Lyla Marie Hixson and Kailey Nichole Hixson; great grandchildren, Talon Hewitt, Ryu Hewitt, Talon Hewitt, and Joaanna Carls; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was deeply proud of and loved his family.

A memorial service will be held at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, Alexandria, Louisiana at 10:30 A.M. on Monday May 23, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 2627 Horseshoe Drive, Alexandria, Louisiana.
