Dorma LaCreasy Dail Thompson, 85, of Chesterfield, passed away May 10, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Arthur and Evelyan B. Dail; sister, Willda "Elaine" Dail; and brother, Rexal Wayne Dail (Pete). She is survived by her husband, Lynwood Lee Thompson; son, Larry L. Thompson (Laurie);and daughter, Lisa W. Casey (Barry); grandchildren, Joshua B., Michael C. and Taylor D. Wilburn and Joseph W. New; great-grandchildren, Allison C. Wilburn, Jayden Marie and Jocelyn Reese New; sister, Nellie Spring; many loved nieces and nephews; and extended family, Jessica Cole (George), Erika Casey, Noah Casey, Robbie Fausz and Jennica Mcnew. Dorma was born in Pitt County, N.C. She lived in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., until she graduated high school and left for Richmond, Va. She got a job at Southern States Cooperative, where she worked and retired after 43 years as the administrative assistant to the president and CEO. She and Lynwood celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last October with a memorable drive-by parade of friends and family. Dorma was a member of the ODC, IAAP for 24 years and served as president for one year. She loved collecting stamps, coins, Hallmark ornaments, Dept. 56 Dickens Village and tending her flower garden. She was a member of Hopewell UMC since August 1966. Dorma lived with style, grace and dignity. She was a devoted wife to Lynwood and a loving and caring mother to Larry and Lisa, as well as her grandchildren. She will be missed every day. A gathering of family and friends will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 16, at Bliley’s - Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. A funeral ceremony will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, at Hopewell United Methodist Church, Chesterfield, Va. 23832.
