Antonina Miedzwiadok Obituary

Antonina Miedzwiadok entered into eternal rest at her home in Anchorage, Alaska, on May 7, 2022, due to heart failure after a prolonged struggle with Lewy body dementia. Known to her friends as Tosia or Toni, she was born in Sapeyka, Belarus, on May 15, 1933. She escaped the war in 1943 with her family and resided in the Watenstedt Displaced Persons Camp where she met John Miedzwiadok. They were married July 19, 1952, in South River, NJ, where they raised five children. Tosia was employed as a seamstress for various companies in South River; she worked for Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, NJ, and retired from Personal Products Co. in Milltown, NJ. Mom was a devoted mother who made her children's dreams come true. She explored the world extensively and most enjoyed her travels to The Holy Land, New Zealand, Italy, South Africa, and Hawaii. She elevated crocheting to an art. She also loved gardening, hiking, sewing, and running. But she most treasured her family. Antonina is survived by her five children and their spouses: Maria (Stephen); Vera (James); Valentine (Fayyaz); Sandra (Stephen); Steve (Ceci). She also leaves her sister Kazia Gayshun; brother Stanley (Annette) Daszkiewicz; sister Pauline (Karoly) Terelmes; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many adored nieces and nephews. She was also loved and cherished by her devoted caregiver, Edna Stauffacher. She was preceded in death by her husband John; sister Olga; parents Karol and Maria Daszkiewicz; and grandsons Adam and David Schumaker. Services on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at St. Innocent Russian Orthodox Cathedral (401 Turpin St., Anchorage, AK 99504): Visitation from 9-11am. Panihida Service at 11am. Interment at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery at 1pm. Memorial donations may be made to St. Innocent Russian Orthodox Cathedral or Serendipity Adult Day Care (3550 E. 20th Ave., Anchorage, AK 99508).
