Richard “Rick” Alan Herzberg, 55, of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Unity Point Health in Marshalltown. Rick's family would like to extend an invitation to a Celebration of Life for Rick that they will be holding at their home, 2620 Ridge Road in Marshalltown on Saturday, June 11 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that people play their music loud and tell their best (or worst) dad jokes and any monetary gifts will be given to continuing education in agriculture. Richard Alan Herzberg was born on June 14, 1966 in Grinnell to Robert and Lorna Herzberg (Hendrickson). Rick graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Business and a minor in Economics. Rick would meet his future wife, Lynne at Iowa State University as they were both members of the Marching Band. Along with the Marching Band, he was involved in the Pep, Jazz and church bands. On September 10, 1988, Rick was united in marriage to Lynne Marquart in Grinnell. Rick was employed as the Director at Werner Grain and Feed in Tama. Rick will be lovingly known for being the best husband, dad and friend. He loved to split wood to keep his family warm. Rick also enjoyed riding motorcycles, drumming and would tell a bad dad joke a time or two. Rick is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lynne. Children: Sarah Herzberg of Kansas City, Missouri and Melissa Lynne Herzberg of Edwardsville, Illinois. He is also survived by his sister, Dianne (Larry) Jensen of Coon Rapids, Iowa and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lorna; brother, Gary Herzberg and niece, Annie Herzberg.
