Toby Josephine Bradford Leavenworth, Kansas Obituary

Toby Josephine Bradford

Toby Josephine (TJ) Bradford left this world on May 10, 2022. She was born on April 13, 1954 to Joseph T. (Toby) and Dolores K. (Spinner) Cune in Leavenworth, Kansas.
She graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1972 and later that year married William (Jody) Edlin. Of that union came one child, Tabatha. They later divorced in 1976.
In 1979, she met and married Beverley Bruce Bradford Jr and for the next 43 years they were the love of each others lives. In her teen years she helped her mother clean rooms at the Leavenworth Motel. They also cleaned a barber shop, beauty shop, and a pizza establishment. She also helped her dad with keeping his yard beautiful. After graduating she worked at One Hour Martinizing Dry Cleaners for 1 year. From there, she took a job at St. John’s hospital in the dietary department for approximately 8 years. While she held down the job in the dietary department, in 1978 she took on a second job working for Hallmark Cards just so she made sure she could give her daughter a good Christmas that year. Then she took on a supervisory roll at the hospital that led to become the Director of Environmental Services for the next 3 years.
In 1982, TJ and Bruce opened Twilight Cleaning. At that point the business grew quickly to cleaning medical buildings, banks, law offices and pharmacy’s. She then started cleaning houses during the day and one point cleaning 4 buildings a night and at least 2 houses in the daytime. She was never afraid of a good hard days work. She always said, “It was self satisfying to always help someone or to accomplish a project”. TJ said it made her heart feel great and absolutely no thank you’s needed. She had way to many friends to name all of them and loved them all dearly.
Over the years her hobbies were painting, hanging wall paper, refinishing her hard wood floors, mowing grass and her all time love was tending to her flower beds and vegetable gardens. For many years at Christmas time she would make cookie trays to give to her family, friends, house customers and businesses she cleaned for. When making the cookies and breads her daughter and granddaughters first job was to be the flour “Swifter” as she called it. Then they were able to be moved up to the official egg crackers until they could follow a recipe. They learned fractions and so forth by baking. TJ also helped her grandson build a Dr. Kevorkian machine for a class project one year.
In 2000 she joined the fraternal order of eagles #55 auxiliary. She spent countless hours volunteering with special dinners and events. She would bake dozens of cookies for children’s parties for Easter, Halloween and Christmas. She was the taco cook, helped with bingo and the Manager of the bingo snack bar. She also helped with whatever else was needed done at the lodge. In 2013, she was volunteer of the year. She held several chairs for the ritual team over the years and in 2016-2017, TJ became the President of the Eagles Auxiliary.
From her 40’s to her 60’s, she helped her mom and brothers taking them wherever they needed to go to include bingo and the casino. Her brothers, Timmy and Joe to their Special Olympic events and bowling. She also helped her grandchildren with cooking and cleaning experiences. She loved her family so so much that they will never know how much she cared for them and only wanted the best for them, only to hope they learned some precious life lessons from her.
Preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Bradford Jr, parents Joseph (Toby) and Dolores (Spinner) Cune, sister Pamela Vineyard, brother Joseph (Joe) Cune, In-laws Bruce and Thelma Bradford Sr., sister in-law Robin McEntire, brother in-law Bob Simpson, 8 uncles and 7 aunts.
She is survived by her daughter, Tabatha (Keith) Butterfield, grandson Ryan (Amy) Adams, granddaughter, Beverly (Jerred Belveal) Adams, great grandchildren Kaylee Adams and Truman Belveal, 5 step grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren. Brothers, John (Jeannie) Raymos, Ray (Peggy) Raymos, Bob (Frankie Jackson) Raymos, and Timothy Cune. Sisters, Dolores Raymos and Peggy Leftwich. Brother and sister in-laws Ed Vineyard, Betty (Trey) Hamilton and Octavia White. She is also survived by over 50 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be Friday, May 13, 2022 at the funeral home at 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Ron Romig, as Master of Ceremonies. Per her request, cremation will follow.
To my husband, Bruce, I love you more than you will ever know. You took such great care of me, Tabby, Ryan and Beverly. There are no words enough in this world to thank you. I love you and now we are together again, my love.
TJ’s motto in life was to love her family unconditionally and as long as there is dirt, she will have a job. Dirt was her job security.

My Mother’s words:
I thank you all for being my friend. I had some hard times in life, but you all turned them into life’s lessons and wonderful times.
Love you all,
T.J.
