Visitation for Horace will be on Friday, May 13, 2022 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Gallagher Funeral Home. Services will be the following day, Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Holloway Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at Holloway Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.<br><br>Horace Leo (J.R.) Paulk, Jr., passed away May 6, 2022, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. To his friends and family, he was affectionately known as "Jr".<br><br>Jr was born on July 15, 1966, in Alexandria, LA. He graduated from Buckeye High School in May of 1984. He attended LSU-A, then completed his degree in Computer Science at Northeast Louisiana University. He worked and lived in Bradenton, Florida where he met his bride Meloydee. They later moved to Alpharetta, Georgia.<br><br>Jr was an avid sports fan and active in many sports during his life. He loved anything "LSU" (even gymnastics), and indeed his wardrobe primarily consisted of purple and gold. He played basketball in high school and rec leagues in college. He was an avid tennis player until his diagnosis, belonging to tennis clubs in both Florida and Georgia. While growing up he loved to fish and duck hunt. <br><br>Jr approached his battle with cancer with optimism and bravery. He lived life to the fullest after his diagnosis. His fighting spirit and devotion to his family were truly admirable. He never gave up hope and he never complained, he just kept persevering until the very end. <br><br>His lasts words were “I love you”; to his wife as he died in her arms.<br><br>He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.<br><br>Rest now my love. You won your battle. Our love will endure... forever and a day.... Love, Meloydee.<br><br>He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memories; loving and devoted wife, Meloydee; daughter, Ariana and son Davis; parents, Horace and Wanda Paulk; brother, Marty Paulk (Karin); sister, Lori Combs (Bruce); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.<br><br>Pallbearers honored to serve are Jacob Paulk, John Paulk, Kerry Paulk, Jeff Paulk, Connor Combs, Robert Willis, James Rayburn, and Mylan Dawson. <br><br>July 15, 1966 - May 6, 202207/15/196605/06/2022
