John J. Bushway

John J. Bushway, 65, of Enfield, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Born in Springfield, MA on June 22, 1956, he was the son of the late John and Hope (Herdiech) Bushway and was a lifelong Enfield resident. John was a Carpenter, Mechanic and a skilled tradesman. He was able to build, fix or tweak anything and was generous with his talents. John was an avid Country music and NASCAR fan and especially loved Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Joey Lagano. John was a member of the GO Racing Team, racing Figure 8 at Riverside Speedway with his brother Greg. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved his Harley Davidson. In his younger years he loved boxing, bowling, and playing pool having collected many trophies along the way. John was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish and he was a lifetime member of the Grey's Club in Enfield. John had many adventures over the years and always had an entertaining story to share.<br><br>He leaves his daughter, Amie (Bushway) Elliott and her husband Dave of Enfield; his cherished granddaughter, Hope Elliott; his loving partner, Lynn Fregeau of Enfield; his former spouse and good friend, Donna (Price) Bushway of Enfield; 3 sisters, Barbara Campagna and her husband Joe, of Keene, N.H., Linda Fort of Stafford Springs, and Sandra Grabinski of Enfield; his sister-in-law Elizabeth D'Agata of West Suffield; and many beloved nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends, and will be missed by his dog Lucy. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Greg Bushway; and his brother-in-law, Frank Grabinski. His family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 17, from 4-6 PM at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. Burial will be private.
