Evelyn Ruth "Moose" Fenton Obituary

Evelyn Ruth (Jarman) Fenton, 92 years old, of Litchfield, Illinois gained her wings on May 10th 2022 at 10:35 p.m., surrounded by her loved ones and was met at heaven’s gates by her husband, Elmer Fenton and son, Jack Fenton.

Moose (Ruth) Fenton was born on February 14th, 1930, to Edward and Alice Jarman of Walshville, Illinois. She was one of twelve children.  Her surviving siblings are Nora Law, Anna Pence, Florence Young, Martha Burdell. She was preceded in death by Jack Jarman, Buddy Jarman, Edith Stewart, Albert Jarman, Dale Jarman, Jesse Jarman, Myrna Law, and Betty Osborn.

Leaving behind are children Wayne (Jean) Fenton of Walshville, Elaine (Warren) Fogle of Butler, Barbara (Mike) Bates of Litchfield, one daughter in law Cathy (Buske) Fenton of Litchfield. She was the grandmother (Nanny) to 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life. Loving each one of them unconditionally and reminding them often how much her and the good Lord above loved them. Always showering them with her prayers and seeing each one of them as perfect humans. She also leaves behind her best friend, Donna Spencer of Litchfield, Illinois.

Ruth was a woman of faith and shared her love for the Lord with everyone she met. She was a pastor’s wife and taught Sunday school for many years. She loved singing old hymns and witnessing to people with her beautiful voice and was a member of the Clarence Fenton and the Gospel Jubilee Singers.

In her spare time, she shot archery and was part owner of the Slim and Spud’s Archery in Litchfield, Illinois. Ruth also loved working in the Wepco and Roller Derby Factories in Litchfield, Illinois. She loved to nibble on chocolate and share family sayings/rhymes/jokes with the younger generation. Always finding a reason to giggle.

Visitation is on Saturday, May 14th from 10 a.m. - 12p.m., funeral services to follow at 12:00 PM the First Baptist Church in Litchfield, Illinois being officiated by Wayne Fenton and Michael Bates.
