John Henry Bacon passed away on May 10, 2022, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on February 13, 1939, in Camden, Mississippi to Mr. Theodore Roosevelt Bacon and Mrs. Lucy Gertrude Foster.

John was the 8th child born of this union. He had 5 sisters and 5 brothers. John grew up in Pickens, Mississippi where he attended Mary Magdalene School.

He was married for over 50 years to his wife, Rosie Preston Bacon, who preceded him in death on August 20, 2019. From their union they had 5 children - Anthony, Gregory, David, Dino, and Tanja. All were residents of Kansas City.

John was a devout Christian and he watched the gospel channel for hours.

John loved attending family reunions. He also enjoyed softball and fishing with his family.

John worked for the Kansas City Southern Pacific Railroad for over 30 years and eventually retired from the railroad. He was called Henry by all his loved ones and his generosity never went unnoticed. He was the kindest person in the room.

John was preceded in death by 2 children, Gregory and Tanja, and 6 siblings - Alberta Gaderson 1988, Woodrow Bacon 2014, Willie (Bill) Bacon 2014, George Bacon 2018, Pearlene Sampson 2019, and Roosevelt Bacon 2021.

He leaves to cherish his memory: 3 children - Anthony, David, and Dino of Kansas City, 3 siblings - Mary Green, Rosie Wiley, and Jerry Bacon, and 5 grandchildren, Erica Austin, Tiara Tulloch, Terence Williams, Anika Bacon, and Tony Bacon. He is also survived by a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, 1:00pm at Lawrence A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12pm-1pm at the chapel. Condolences may be shared on our website.
