Colleen Smith

August 9, 1939 ~ May 7, 2022 (age 82)

Colleen Smith, of Pahrump, passed away May 7, 2022. She was born on August 9, 1939 in St. George Utah to Richard R. and Edna Horsley.  They moved to Las Vegas, Nevada when Colleen was around age 4.  She grew up in Las Vegas and graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1957. Colleen Horsley married Vernon L. Smith on September 5, 1958, and they lived in Las Vegas, Nevada where they had 3 children. Colleen retired from Centel Telephone Co. where she enjoyed working as a Line Assignment Clerk and then as an Outside Plant Engineer until retirement.  Colleen and her husband Vernon lived out their retirement happily in Pahrump, Nevada.  Colleen and her husband enjoyed quiet sunsets on the porch swing that her husband built, visits with their children, grandchildren, walks with their sweet puppies, gardening beautiful flowers, motorcycle rides, and travel.  Colleen’s sweet husband Vernon passed on July 10, 2003.  Colleen remained living out her years in Pahrump, Nevada enjoying some travel, visits from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, gardening her flowers, and attending church.  Colleen was always there to listen and give encouragement.  She is missed deeply and will be loved forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Edna Horsley, her husband Vernon L. Smith and her grandson Joshua Benavidez.

She is survived by her three children; daughter, Lori (Auburn) Burrell of Kiowa, Colorado; son, Vernon (LuAnn) Smith of Henderson; daughter, Gwenda Smith-Brooks of Henderson; seven grandchildren; Tommy (Tiffany) Simmons, Matthew Benavidez, Jesse (Danylle) Smith, Joshua (Ashley) Smith, Luke (Krysee) Benavidez, Brittany (Daniel Thomas) Smith, and IanConnor Brooks; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters; Carol Carter of Milford, Utah; Bernice Horsley of Las Vegas, Nevada and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

 Visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, May 7, 2022, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 N. Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, Nevada 89101, with Services following at 11:00 a.m. also at Bunkers Mortuary.  Interment will follow at 1 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2022 at Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Rd. Las Vegas, Nevada 89129
