Kay Marie Stoner Obituary

Kay Marie Stoner, 72, of Findlay passed away at 9:20 A.M. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at her residence. She was born on July 6, 1949, in Findlay to the late Fred and Pauline (Farison) Sampson. She married Michael Stoner on August 7, 1971, and he survives. Kay is survived by her children: Michael Andrew (Mercedes) Stoner of Lancaster, Ohio and Karrie Marie Stoner of Cincinnati; sister Joyce Bevins of Leipsic; and granddaughter Izabella Stoner. She is preceded in death by her parents. Kay was a 1967 graduate of Findlay High School. She went on to study at Kent State University as well as Bowling Green State University, where she obtained a master's degree in teaching. Kay returned to Findlay High School and taught for 31 years before retiring. During her time at Findlay High School, she devoted seven years to being the cheerleader and pep squad advisor and was also the Home Economics Department Chair for many years. Along with teaching, Kay chaperoned five trips of students to the Bahamas. Kay was awarded the 1999-2000 Outstanding Educator Award from the Chamber of Commerce, the 1999-2000 Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. Award, and the Outstanding Educator Award from Millstream Career & Technology Center. She was also on the Board of Directors for the Fostoria Footlighters Community Playhouse. Kay was a member of the Central Church of Christ. In her free time, she loved gardening, quilting, and reading. Kay was a member of the Stitch-N-Time quilt club and was also an active knitter. She was an incredible wife and mother and will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 11:00 A.M.- 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. The funeral will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Central Church of Christ, 307 E. Hardin St. Findlay with Pastor Jacob Huber officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in Kay's honor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741, The Hancock County Humane Society, 4550 Fostoria Ave. Findlay, and/or the American Red Cross, 125 Fair St. Findlay.
