Calvin Blackwell Arrington, Jr., 85, of Thaxton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Calvin was retired as a Truck Driver with Valley Rich Dairy in Roanoke. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Arrington; son; Donald Calvin Arrington; father and mother, Calvin and Ella Arrington; father and mother-in-law, Herbert and Pearl Ayers; brother, Charles G. Arrington and his wife, Christina Arrington; son-in-law, Patrick “Cornbread” Nester; grandson, Patrick Nester, II; great grandchild, River Coles; sister-in-law, Shelby Ayers; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Ayers and Howard Worth. Calvin is survived by two daughters, Regina “Jeannie” Meador and husband, Ronnie Lacy, Lisa Nester; four grandchildren, Christopher Arrington, Amanda Craft “Little Granny”, Ashley Craft “Smurfy”, David Craft “Bubby” and wife, Crystal; seven great grandchildren, Sarah Arrington, Mason Arrington, Shane Witt, Greyston Swint, Zayden Arrington, Liam Coles, Brantley Craft; three sisters-in-law, Ruby Chapman, Becky Booze and husband, Billy, Betty Ayers; and numerous nieces and nephews including the special nieces, Jessica Thomasson and husband, Alan, Heather Trivellin and husband, Hunter, and Priscilla Kelley, and the special nephews, Larry Arrington and Troy Arrington; and special friends, John Meador, Doug and Texann Mayhew.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Oakey’s East Chapel with Pastor Dwayne Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.
