Irene Elizabeth Olcott

Irene E. Olcott, 89, of Liverpool, passed away Tuesday at Elderwood at Liverpool. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a graduate of Central Tech High School. Irene was employed by West Genesee Central School District as a secretary for over 25 years and was a communicant of Holy Family Church. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling, loved her animals, but, above all, truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Irene was predeceased by her husband, R. Bruce; parents, Stephen and Julia Volsko; brothers, John, Stephen, and Michael Volsko; sisters, Mary Slowinski, Margaret Rolince, Helen Mitchell, and Ann Volsko; and grandson, J. Tyler. Surviving are her son, Tim (Lynn) Olcott of Camillus; daughters, Brenda (James) Lawless of Baldwinsville and Kathleen (Thomas) House of Liverpool; grandchildren, Joshua (Maureen) Lawless, Chase (Selena) Olcott and Samantha (Nathan Funke) House; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Vivian, Josephine and Arlo; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, May 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, May 16 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Syracuse. Irene will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Family Church Food Pantry, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse, NY 13219.
