Anthony Flowers Obituary

Mr. Anthony Martin Flowers passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Ave Tampa, FL 33606, Bishop Jeffrey A.J. Johnson, Officiating. MASK RECOMMENDED.

Mr. Anthony, affectionately known as Tony or “Boo” was born March 25, 1965, to the late Mildred and Robert Lee Flowers, at Lincoln Hospital in The Bronx, New York. He attended New York City Public Schools and graduated from the prestigious Brooklyn Technical High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States Navy and honorably served his country for over 20 years. Always striving for greatness, Tony received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from The University of Phoenix. Aside from his family, Tony’s greatest devotion was to the military. During his tenure in the United States Navy, Tony earned many awards and honors. As a Senior Chief Petty Officer E8, he was awarded the Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, 6 Navy Achievement Medals, 2 Navy Unit Commendation Awards and many more. Tony’s experience in the Navy played a very important role in his life. Through his actions, he displayed the contributions the Navy played in his life through the value of discipline, teamwork, and he was a God fearing man that motivated him from his early days instructed in the church by his Mom. He would often explain to loved ones how these values contributed to his success in life.

He was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Chanda Flowers on May 23, 1998. This year 2022 the two would have celebrated their 24th Anniversary of commitment, love, and loyalty.

Tony truly enjoyed his family time. He would either be enjoying a movie night, taking his son to boy scouts, or enjoying a family vacation. Tony loved watching sports, cars, political conversations, and most of all listening to music. He loved good music!

He is survived by his lovely wife, Chanda; daughters, Jazmine and Aliyah; sons, Cameron and Shane; granddaughter, Syra; god-son, Derrion; siblings, Leon (Donna), Kent (Deborah), Bobbie Dee (Brenda) and Sandra (Chris); nieces and nephews, Kevin, Jason, Kendrya , Keon , Kyle, Tanya, Kenya , Jasmine and Kendell; great nieces and nephews, Rakeem, Alexis, and Kendon; his loving mother in law, Deborah J. McRoy; his friends who were more like brothers; and a host of family and friends to cherish his memories.

The visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.  MASK RECOMMENDED.
