Francis Talusa Tuitele

Francis Talusa Tuitele , 65 years old was known to many as a “Legend”, to his siblings as “Franco”, to his students as “Coach Francis”, to his family as “Malaetele Francis Talusa Tuitele”, but to his loving wife and children as “Dad”. He took his last breath at his residence in Anchorage, Alaska on May 7th,2022. He became a resident of Alaska in 2016. Mr. Tuitele was born on September 18th, 1956 in American Samoa. He graduated from Kaimuki Honolulu, HI, and pursued further education in Walla Walla University where he played the sport he loved football. He was employed at ASDOE (AMERICAN SAMOA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION) from 1982-2010. He taught at Leone Midkiff Elementary, and majority of his teaching career at Leone High School (home of the mighty Lions) where he retired in 2010. He coached the Leone High football team in 1982 and won 10 island championships and finally retired as a Head Coach in 2002 after winning his last championship. He was acknowledged and remembered by so many during his time with the football team and years after. In 2001 he was awarded coach of the year on island. He was always proud of his accomplishments as a coach for the Home of the Mighty Lions, and he was our superstar, and we will always be proud of him. Despite his coaching career being a big part of his life, he never failed to prioritize and care for his family at the same time. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life; Seuta’atia Tuitele, and he was the greatest Father and best friend to his kids; Cecilia Tuitele Danielson(daughter) married to Geryon Danielson, Leuma (Juma) Maurice Tuitele(son) married to Aura Ortiz, and Setima Tuitele(son). He made so many sacrifices for his family even if it was his very last cent he had left or even offering the shirt off his back without question. He looked out for his family and showed so much love and joy to those who knew and loved him. He was a simple man who loved to joke around and be happy and he was never a negative character. This man was humble and proud of where he came from and who he was in his lifetime. He will forever be missed, and his memory and legacy will live on through all of his friends and loved ones.
