Wesley Joseph Severson

Long time Eagle River resident, Wesley Joseph Severson, 70, took his final breath on earth and entered the presence of Jesus on May 4, 2022. Wesley was born January 25, 1952 in Grand Rapids, MN to Ned and Arlene Severson. Raised in Minnesota, he graduated from Deer River High School in 1970, then moved to Alaska where he served in the Alaska Air National Guard from 1970 - 1977. Wes married the love of his life, Rebecca Severson, November 15, 1974. They lived in Eagle River, AK where he resided until his death. From the age of 18, Wes proudly drove a semi. He worked for several companies before settling at Lynden Transport as an owner operator for over 30 years. Living life to the fullest, he enjoyed numerous hobbies including spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, flying small airplanes, riding motorcycles and traveling with his wife. Wes, a dedicated Christian and member of Anchorage Baptist Temple, served as an usher for close to 40 years. Our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend lived a life of integrity, leaving behind a legacy that will change lives for generations to come. Deuteronomy 5:10 Wes is survived by wife, Becky, of 47 years, brother Roger Severson (Sandy) of Eagle River, AK, sister Laura Paulsen (Larry) of Deer River, MN, sister-in-law Brenda Bachmeier of Graham, WA, son Chad Severson (Sharon), grandson Randy (Lindsay) of Odessa, TX, son Shawn Severson, (Autumn), grandsons Teague Severson (Caitlin), Reuben Severson (Hailey) of Lubbock, TX, daughter Rebecca Banfield (Ed), granddaughters Payton & Shelby Banfield of Eagle River, AK as well as a large extended family. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Corwin Severson, Anita Cooper, and Dennis Severson, and granddaughter Rayanne Severson. A celebration of Wesley’s life will take place on Friday, May 13 at 1pm at Anchorage Baptist Temple.
