Betty Saylor Obituary

Betty Louise Saylor, 88, of Ottumwa, died at 12:15 p.m. May 8, 2022 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was born October 10, 1933 in Davis County, IA to Barney and Ethel Ray Ruby. Betty married Raymond Morrison in July of 1953 and he preceded her in death December 19, 1953. She married Paul Alan Saylor on May 18, 1957 and he preceded her in death on March 17, 1997. Growing up on a farm, Betty attended a one room country school and was a 1952 graduate of Bloomfield High School. Betty had worked at the Pink Pig and for a dry cleaners in Ottumwa. After her marriage to Paul, she stayed home to raise her family. Betty was a strong mother but a lenient grandmother. She attended Jubilee Bible Church. Betty enjoyed working in her yard and loved reading and talking about the Lord. Surviving are her children, Raymond (Kathy) Morrison of Florida, Randy (Kim) Saylor, Paula (Charles) Morrissey and Robbie (Jessica) Saylor all of Ottumwa; a daughter-in-law, Christine Saylor of Arizona; 8 grandchildren, Amber Hornbeck, Levi Morrissey, Joshua Morrissey, Leah Yoder, Jacob Morrisey, Dawson Morrisey, Brenon Saylor and Shannon Saylor; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice (Terry) Norris of Oskaloosa. She was preceded in death by a son, Alan Scott Saylor; brothers, Barney Junior Ruby, Lawrence McCombs and Clarence McCombs and a sister, Irene Simmons. Visitation will be open at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13th, at Reece Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. Per her request, her casket will remain closed. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14th, at First Pentecostal Assembly of God with her son, Pastor Randy Saylor, officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed on the Ottumwa First Pentecostal Assembly of God Facebook page. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Jubilee Bible Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
