Dorothy L. Wiser, age 98, of Waverly, Il. died Wednesday afternoon (May 4, 2022) at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Il. She was born December 5, 1923 in Palmyra, Il. daughter of the late Ivan L. and Lula C. Eyer Crum. She married Ernest Wiser on September 6, 1941 in Bowling Green, Mo. and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1992. Surviving are her children, Susan Walls of Waverly, Il., Debbie Rothe (Darrell) of Modesto, Il., Michelle Wiser of Jacksonville, Il., and Deanna Courier of Waverly, Il.; twenty-five grandchildren; sixty-three great grandchildren; three sisters, Levina Bentley, Yvonne Turner, and Luanne Rhymer; and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Ernest; a son Tom Wiser; and a daughter April Wiser in infancy; and three grandsons, Tim Rothe, Brian Courier, and Matthew Walls; two great-grandchildren, Olin and Rita Kingston; sisters, Mary Frances Hunt, and Etta Frank; and brothers, Ivan and Donald Crum. Dorothy was a graduate of Palmyra Township Highschool. She worked at Brown Ready Mix in Waverly for several years and later worked for over 20 years at Memorial Medical Center retiring at age 72. She loved to sew and quilt and made baby quilts for all her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and watching Days of Our Lives. The family will host a Celebration of Life for Dorothy at 1 p.m. Saturday (May 14, 2022) at the Modesto Community Center in Modesto, Il. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Waverly Public Library or to Susan Walls for placement of a headstone and sent to Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, 349 E. Tanner, Waverly, Il. 62692.
