Lester Delmar Lang passed away suddenly May 4, 2022, at Ashley Medical Center. Lester was born April 13, 1934, to Jacob and Pauline (Schlect) Lang on the family farm south of Lehr, ND. Lester was second eldest of 13 children that were born of Jacob and Pauline’s union. Lester’s education took him to the eighth grade where he then helped his dad on the family farm.

Lester married Lorraine Vossler on September 22, 1955, at St. Andrew’s Evangelical German Lutheran Church parsonage near Zeeland, ND.

The sudden passing of Lester’s dad in February of 1956 forced Lester and Lorraine to take over the operation of the farm while still caring for his mother and two siblings. The family farm was located seven miles south of Lehr where Lester and Lorraine managed their grain and dairy farm. The farming operation concluded in 1997 when Lester and Lorraine stepped into retirement and moved to Ashley, ND. Although Lester retired from his own operation of farming, his love for farming did not quit as he worked for his son-in-law, Gary Wolff who operated his farm east of Zeeland for many years.

Lester and Lorraine purchased the home located at 608 West Main Street in Ashley. Lester continued to help on Gary’s farm until the time illness took his beloved bride to the nursing home. Lester would be with Lorraine everyday at the nursing home and go home at night. Until one year later in 2019, when Lester moved into the nursing home.

Their marriage concluded on February 17, 2020, when Lorraine went to be with the Lord.

Born of this blessed union were three children, Sharon (Gary Wolff) of Zeeland, Steven (Angie Voeltz) of Pierre, SD, and Sandra (Kevin Skow) of Isle, MN. Two siblings of Lester’s remain with us, Betty Raile, and Esther Eckman, both of Mandan, ND.

The union of Lester and Lorraine also brought forth, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and another great great grandchild expected in September 2022.

Preceding Lester in death was his wife, Lorraine, siblings, Orpha, Arbadella, Darold, Janice, Donna and Bernice who were tragically lost in a house fire in November of 1946. Also preceding him were infants, Edna, James, and Ruth and recently, Robert from Lodi, CA.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Lester’s grandchildren, Rebecka Lang, Sarah Lang and Jake Lang, daughters and son of Steven, Russel Wolff and Kelly Pillen, son and daughter of Sharon, Samantha Moore and Chelsie Platz, daughters of Sandra and Lester’s great grandchildren and great great grandson.

Casketbearers will be Joshua Lang, Matthew Lang and Leslie Marx, sons and daughter of Steven, Kayla Renz and Gary Wolff, daughter and husband of Sharon, and Bethany Kaar daughter of Sandra.
