Noel Saquet Obituary

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family of Noel Auguste Joseph Saquet announces his passing on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the age of 93 years.
Noel was born on February 3, 1929, and was raised on his family farm 2 miles east of Laurier, Manitoba. He received his education at the Laurier School. Following his education, Noel worked on the farm with his parents and also worked as a carpenter on the side. He later purchased land and a farm of his own.

On November 20, 1954, Noel married the love of his life Denise Gamache. They tended to the farm together, raising chickens and cattle, as well as grain farming. In 1957 their family grew as they welcomed their first child Donald, followed by Diane in 1960, and Viviane in 1961. When the children got older, they were also able to help out on the farm. Noel and Donald continued to farm together for numerous years, with his grandson Travis joining them later.

Visiting, playing cards, going out for coffee, and playing guitar were many of the activities that Noel enjoyed with family and friends. He also took pleasure in reading, collecting antiques, visiting museums, and attending the Manitoba Thresherman’s Reunion and Stampede each year. Later on, he took great pride in watching the family farm continue to grow through his living room window. His interest and love for farming continued.

Noel’s greatest pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, and great grand-children. He cherished and loved every moment spent with them and always looked forward to having everyone together.

Noel was predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Denise (Gamache) Saquet, great grand-daughter Kaitlyn Stewart, his mother Marie (Painchaud) Saquet, father Leon Saquet, brother Marcel Saquet, mother and father-in-law Jeanne and Phillippe Gamache, brother’s-in-law Alec Fouillen, Gerald, Gérard, Fernand, Luc Gamache, sisters-in-law Sylvia, Annabelle Saquet, Cécile, Marie Gamache, and nephew Leonard Plessis.

He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish many fond memories; his children Donald (Joanne) Saquet, Diane (Dave) Wolchuk, and Viviane (Gord) Thompson. His 11 grandchildren Ashley (Jesse) Lussier, Travis (Tasha) Saquet, Kylie (Mark) Frattinger, Cara Lee (Matt) Stewart, Candace Wolchuk, Jared (Devon) Wolchuk, Jevin (Kayla) Wolchuk, Ryan (Jessica) Thompson, Jason (Anna) Thompson, Colin (Madison) Thompson, Kevin (Amy) Thompson, his 23 great grandchildren, Iyla and Rylan Lussier, Dominik and Darko Iwanchysko, Anzhe, Mykel, and Stephan Saquet, Jake and Sadie Frattinger, Kailee, Logan, and Karissa Stewart, Jailyn and Caden Hooper, Aidric Wolchuk, Maxx and Harlow Wolchuk.
