Peter C. Repak Obituary

Peter Repak was born in Camp Kilmer, New Jersey to Andrew and Joan Repak on February 21, 1955. He spent part of his childhood in Fairfax, Virginia before moving to Toms River, NJ and graduating from High School North. Pete accumulated a great deal of friends throughout the years, with many lifelong pals dating back to his school years.
The oldest of four, Pete took his responsibility to pester his younger siblings very seriously, constantly coming up with schemes and getting into mischief. Pete was his siblings' biggest fan; no matter the circumstances, he was always in their corner ready to offer support, guidance, and unconditional love (and possibly a knuckle sandwich). Spending time with family was incredibly important to Pete and his love for his siblings Cindy (husband Brian), Mark (significant other Angela), and Drew (wife Linda) and for his mother, Joan (husband Joe), his father, Andy, his stepmother, Justine, his Aunt Connie and Uncle Jack, and his cousins and their families was evident in every moment. Pete deeply cherished his mother, Joan, who passed away in 2011; they shared a love of nature, books, a hearty laugh, and time spent with family and friends.
With his booming laugh and irreverent sense of humor, Pete brought immense joy to those around him and his love for spirited debates ensured that no family gathering was ever dull (or quiet). Pete extended kindness, compassion, and limitless generosity to everyone he encountered, humans and animals alike; he adopted the oldest dogs in the local shelter to give them a loving home for their final years. Every summer, Pete could be found on a wooded campsite in Lake George, blasting classic rock, preparing a Chili Night feast for his family, regaling everyone (again, not quietly) with animated family stories and childhood tall tales (the details of which seemed to morph a bit each passing year), or snoring in his camp chair with an open book resting on his chest. His sense of humor, his sharp wit, (and his volume) were unmatched.
Pete didn't do anything small (his beard was proof of this) and fiercely loved his family; he was a stellar uncle to his nieces and nephews, Bob (wife Heather), Jessie (husband Brandon), Andrew, Mitchell, Brittany, and Natalie, and an enthusiastic great uncle to his "little dudes", Bobby and Connor. Pete shared with them not only embarrassing stories about their parents but also his fun-loving nature, his passion for good music, countless trips to the Crawfish Festival, and his culinary experiments. Through his words, his actions, and his unwavering presence, he made sure everyone knew exactly how much he loved and cared for them.
Pete's larger than life nature-- whether he was trading stories, blasting off history facts and winning most arguments, sharing ice cream with his friends, snoring on the couch after a family meal, or enjoying a still Adirondack morning with his beloved dog-- made even the quietest moments feel special. Pete frequently said that he was "the luckiest guy on Earth". Anyone who spent time with Pete knows that we were the lucky ones. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
