Betty Jorgensen

Betty Jorgensen was born on January 23, 1944, in Palo Alto County, Iowa to Roy A. and Irene L. (Simonsen) Nissen. She passed away on April 29, 2022, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 78 years.<br><br> She attended and graduated from Graettinger High School. She then attended IBM Vocational School in Kansas City. <br><br> On August 27, 1965 she was united in marriage to Donald Jorgensen in Downey, California. The couple lived in California for 32 years. Donald died in 1994 and Betty returned back to Iowa in April of 1996.<br><br> Betty was a computer operator for Pacific Bell for over 22 years. She then worked as admissions clerk for Avera Holy Family Hospital for 12 years. For hobbies, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, plastic canvas, watching TV, shopping, movies and spending time with her grandchildren.<br><br> She was a member of the Lutheran Faith.<br><br> Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Robert (Michelle) Jorgensen of San Jacinto, California and Raymond (Wendy) Jorgensen of Estherville; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sarah) Jorgensen of Paris, California; Dawn Jorgensen of Murrieta, California; Ryan (Brittany) Jorgensen of Estherville and Johnathan Jorgensen of Estherville; great grandchildren, Heiden Jorgensen and Maylee Jorgensen; step great grandchildren, Aayden and Chanel; siblings, Dale (Barb) Nissen of Estherville; William (Mary) Nissen of Tennessee; and Melinda (Phillip) Fisher of Ankeny, Iowa.<br><br> Betty is preceded in death: by her husband, Donald, her parents, Roy A. Nissen and Irene Lavon (Simonsen) Nissen, and sister, Myrtle (Ted) Erb.
