Barb Gregg

Barbara Ann (Dell) Gregg, age 68, of Waverly, Il. and formerly of Pittsfield, Il. died on Friday April 29, 2022, after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born March 19, 1954, in Pittsfield, IL to her parents, Orville H. and Leta (Belford) Dell. She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1972 and began working for GTE in 1975 with her cousin, Helen “Peg” McComber. While employed at GTE Barb met her husband, Leonard Gregg, who survives her. Barb and Leonard were married on April 30, 1977. After the birth of their daughter Kristina, Barb became a stay-at-home mom for over 12 years caring for many children who have remained close friends. Barb returned to work in 1995 at Elliot State Bank in Jacksonville. She enjoyed knitting for her family and friends, tending to her bird feeders, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and visiting her friends and grandchildren. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ronald Dell, beloved cousin, Peg McComber, and friend, MaryBeth Mitchell. Barb is survived by her husband, Leonard, her daughter, Kristina (Christopher) Austin and their children Levi and Ethan of Topeka, KS, her son Kyle (Emily) Gregg of St. Joseph, IL, their son, Chase, her brother Tom (Sue) Dell of Pittsfield, IL, and her sister Janet (Jamie) Epperson of Frankford, MO. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday (May 4, 2022) at Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Waverly, Il. Burial will be in Waverly East Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Waverly Volunteer Fire Dept./Rescue Squad or the Illinois Concerns of Police Survivors (ILCOPS) and sent to Neece-Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, 349 E. Tanner, Waverly, Il. 62692. Condolences may be sent to the family online www.airsman-hires.com.
