Durham: Maurice S. Walker, Jr., 86, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022 peacefully at his home in Durham. He was born in Granville County, N.C. He is preceded in death by his father, Maurice S. Walker, Sr.; step-mother, Dovie Walker; and mother, Blanche Cozart. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was also predeceased by his sister, Lucille Watson. Mr. Walker was a retired Administrator with the Environmental Protection Agency and served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Lions Club and a faithful member of Braggtown Baptist Church. Mr. Walker loved fishing, bowling, golfing and camping. Mr. Walker and his wife enjoyed traveling abroad through Friendship Force and Citizens For Understanding to learn more about other cultures. Mr. Walker is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sandra Jean Walker; daughters, Terri Page (Kenneth Shires), Debra Crocker, Tracey Kumar (Niraj); grandchildren, Kevin Page, Carah Wampler, Jodi Ardente (Adam), Zachary Page (Priya); and great-grandchildren, Ryan Wampler and Roman Ardente. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3rd at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham with Pastor Eric Burmahl officiating. The family will receive friends prior the service from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Flowers are acceptable. Memorial donations may be made to Duke Cancer Institute: 300 W. Morgan St., Suite 1200, Durham, NC 27701. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Duke Oncology Team and Duke HomeCare and Hospice for all of their care.
