Funeral services for Mr. Kirby Elder, age 73 of Lineville, will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland at 2:00PM with Rev. Mike Worthy and Zenus Windsor officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Clay County Memory Gardens. Mr. Elder passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at his home. A lifelong resident of Clay County, he spent his life working at multiple locations primarily in the trucking industry. He owned and operated KET Trucking, worked many years for Anderson Trucking, and was currently employed with Asimpa, LLC. Outside of work, he loved horses, restoring old cars, collecting guns, and “loafering.” He had a huge heart and it brought him a lot of joy to help others in any way he could. He loved his fur baby, Sunny, and his great-grandpups, Poppy and Chance. What he loved most was his daughter and his two granddaughters. They were his world. Mr. Elder is survived by one daughter, Dena Elder of Lineville; two granddaughters, Bree Elder of Costa Mesa, CA and Hannah Vinson of Tuscaloosa; one sister, Margaret Anderson of Lineville; plus several nieces and nephews and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents: Charles Thomas and Clara Hargrove Elder; and four brothers: Charles Elder, Jr., Farris “Spike” Elder, Billy Wayne Elder, and Larry Elder. Active Pallbearers will be Tony Mitchell, Julian Gortney, Joey Brannock, Bennie White, Chris Gay, and Randy Character. Honorary Pallbearer will be Tim Tucker. Visitation will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland from 5:00PM to 8:00PM, and on Sunday from 8:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM.
